Austrian Peace Service is an alternative to compulsory national military service.

Austrian Peace Service is part of the Austrian Service Abroad (www.auslandsdienst.at).

The Austrian Service Abroad offers Peace Service (www.friedensdienst.at), Social Service (www.sozialdienst.at) and Holocaust Memorial Service (www.gedenkdienst.org).

Austrian Peace Servants work at Peace Organizations and Peace Initiatives abroad. There are partner organizations in China, Japan and Israel/Palestine.

Social Service supports the social and economic development. There are projects for street kids, educational projects and projects that focus on medical help.

The first Austrian Holocaust Memorial Servant was sent abroad on September 1st 1992. Since then hundreds of young Austrians worked in 22 different countries worldwide.

The Austrian Service Abroad provides information about Austrian Peace, Social and Holocaust Memorial Service. Articles and reports from the representatives abroad and is ment to be a general pool of information about Austrian peace initiatives.
